Buzy Bees Pre-School

These policies are kept in the foyer and are available for any interested parties to read.
We encourage you to read them if you can and are receptive to any suggestions you
may have to improve our group.

New parents

Please bring your completed enrolment form with you on the day your child is due to start pre-school. This is very important as legally we cannot take your child without this information. If you feel it necessary please leave a spare set of clothes for your child with their coat in case of any mishaps! All new starters are taken to the toilet at regular intervals to encourage the habit!

Please bring a healthy snack to each session i.e fruit, cheese, yoghurt, crackers. This is then shared at snacktime. We operate a cafeteria system whereby the children choose what they want to eat, find a seat and help pour their drinks.

Please make sure your child has a coat unless it is exceptionally hot in which case could you bring a sunhat, as we do like to take the children out on a daily basis unless the weather is extremely bad. Don’t forget, it is better to send your child in older clothes as we cannot be held responsible for mud, grass stains, paint etc. We do have available, Buzy Bees polo shirts and sweatshirts to buy should you be interested – see Sam Williams for more details.

We would ask that you do not allow your children to bring possessions from home unless we specifically request them for the interest table or show and tell. We cannot be held responsible for any damage to personal effects.

Settling your child

Stay as long as you need to when settling your child for the first time. Every child is different, you know your child best. Some parents like to go quickly, others may prefer to stay for a few sessions. Your child will settle eventually. If we do have a distressed child we have a number of set procedures in place to gain their interest or distract them. These include talking to them about their favourite things, a short walk with a member of staff, one to one attention or just breathing space until they feel ready to join in and play. Talk to your child’s keyperson, they are there to help.

Some parents experience great anxiety leaving their child if they have not settled well.
Please do phone us as often as you need to during the session to put your mind at rest.

REMEMBER – if we feel your child is unable to settle we will contact you. If you have not heard from us then your child is alright – honest!! Feel free to wait at the end of the session to ask us about your child.

Illness

Please do not bring your child to the pre-school if they have been sick within the last 48 hrs. However, we appreciate colds and runny noses are inevitable – you do not need to keep them home for this.
